Introduction
Replacing wiper blades on your vehicle is an important task that could save you some trouble if the weather suddenly turns bad! Changing blades on the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class x164 is simple and could be completed in minutes. We will use two different terms in this tutorial: wiper arm and wiper blade. The wiper arm is the part that is attached to the vehicle, while the blade is the part that is being replaced. Understanding these two terms will help you change your GL320, GL350, or GL450 wiper blades!
Tutorial Compatibility
In this tutorial, we explain how to change both the front windshield and rear windshield wiper blades on Mercedes-Benz GL-Class x164. This tutorial is compatible with the following vehicles:
- Mercedes-Benz GL320 (2007-2009)
- Mercedes-Benz GL350 (2010-2014)
- Mercedes-Benz GL450 (2007-2014)
Mercedes-Benz GL-Class x164: Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
- Begin by propping up the wiper blade arms so they are no longer lying flat on the windshield. Before removing the wiper blade, ensure that you do not drop the wiper arm onto the windshield while there is no blade on it. This can crack your windshield and cause a costly repair.
- On each side of the wiper arm, there are two tabs that can be pressed in to release the wiper blade from the arm. With the tabs pressed, rotate the wiper blade away from the wiper arm in order to release it.
- To install your new wiper blade, you will notice that there is a tab at the end of the wiper arm. This tab is inserted into the wiper blade, which is then rotated and snapped into the wiper arm using the two tabs that were pressed to remove the old blade.
- The same process can be repeated for replacing both front windshield wiper blades.
Mercedes-Benz GL-Class x164: Rear Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
- The rear wiper blade is even easier than replacing the front wiper blades. Again, begin by rotating the wiper arm away from the vehicle.
- Rotate the wiper blade to a 90-degree angle with the wiper arm and slide it off to the right.
- The wiper blade has a post that is inserted into a slot in the wiper arm, which is then rotated and secured into the wiper arm.
