The E-Class has been long known for its elegance and substance, but Mercedes-Benz upped the luxury game for 2024. New models now boast upscale features that rival those in the top-of-the-line S-Class. The engines also receive mild-hybridization assistance, resulting in a little power boost and better fuel efficiency. Futuristic tech is, however, the main highlight for this year, with the new E-Class offering more next-generation amenities than outgoing models. Continue reading to learn more about the 2024 E-Class in this comprehensive review.

Exterior Design and Colors

Redesigned for the 2024 model year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wears an attractive new look. However, it still maintains some of the handsome styling elements of the previous models that gave the vehicle its characteristic sleek and classy appearance. At the front end of the car is a radiator grille flanked by double-dip headlights that pay homage to those on the preceding models. The back also features full-width taillights with a unique three-star motif similar to the brand’s logo. The power domes on the hood give you an idea of the sporty driving experience that this sedan promises, while the two character lines on the side enhance its imposing look.

Mercedes has not yet revealed the exterior color options that will be available on the 2024 E-Class models, but we can expect a delightful array of exterior finishes that complement the car’s elegant design and allure.

Engine, Performance, and Gas Mileage

Engine options remain unchanged for most of the E-Class trims. Under the hood of the base E-350 model is a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor. Together, they produce a total of 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The optional 3.0-liter six-cylinder also gets hybrid assistance. Standard on the E450 model, this engine delivers 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Aside from providing a nice power bump, the hybrid setup also assists in cruising, improves fuel efficiency, and allows for smooth operations.

A quick-shifting nine-speed automatic gearbox handles the transmission duties on both models. Little is known about the AMG models, but rumor has it there will be an E-53 with a hybridized six-cylinder engine. Buyers can also look forward to an E63 with either a V8 or a four-cylinder powertrain or both. An enhanced all-wheel-drive system is standard on the E-class, guaranteeing optimal traction and control on a wide range of terrain. Every model features a steel spring suspension, but air suspension is also available if you opt for the available Technology Package. With this, you get continuously adjustable damping and rear-axle steering, which makes the E-class more nimble to drive and ensures stability on different road surfaces.

Mercedes has not provided any official economy ratings for the 2024 E-Class, but it is very likely to be close to those of the 2023 models.

Interior Comfort, Tech, and Colors

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Interior Comfort

Step inside the E-Class, and you will amazed by the comfortable, high-end interior. The cabin is well-appointed and lined with rich-looking materials like leather upholstery and metal trim, creating a plush appeal. Passenger space is almost the same as in the 2023 models, but those in the rear seat compartments get a bit more stretch room in the new model. Interior tech is where the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class truly shines. It features an advanced MBUX infotainment system with a large Superscreen. This screen will merge three different displays: a 14.3-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the backseat passenger, as well as a discrete 12.3-inch touchscreen for the instrument cluster. This will allow you to have a seamless and personalized experience while on board. The new MBUX system has also been made to be compatible with several third-party apps, so you can take selfies, attend Zoom meetings, and watch TikTok videos on the go. The standard audio system is a 4D Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos, but there’s an optional premium sound system with 21 speakers. The available Active Ambient Lighting provides sound visualization, making the entertainment experience inside the car more immersive. Interior color options, including dark brown, black, and light beige and grey, match the vehicle’s handsome exterior styling.

Driver Aid and Safety Systems

The new E-Class is also big on safety and convenience. While the vehicle is not self-driving per se, it comes with a wide array of innovative and cutting-edge features to protect you and make commuting easier. These include forward collision warning, active parking assistance,  automatic emergency braking, automatic emergency steering, active lane steering assist with lane-centering assist, and a driver monitoring system, to mention a few. It is still not known what the MSRP will be for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but it would probably be higher than the current sticker prices for the outgoing models.
